The Starbucks at the Scotiabank Theatre has permanently closed

Another Starbucks in Vancouver has shut down for good.

The coffee giant’s location in the base of the Scotiabank Theatre permanently closed its doors on February 1.

“We’re grateful you’ve allowed us to be part of your daily routine,” reads a sign taped to the door.

The closure of the 930 Burrard Street store adds to a growing list of Starbucks locations that have shuttered in recent days.

The Reserve Bar in Mount Pleasant – the first of its kind in Western Canada – also closed down on February 1, as did the café located near the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The outpost near the entrance to Granville Island has shut down as well.

Last month, Starbucks announced that it would be closing up to 300 stores across Canada by the end of March as part of its next phase of store transformation.

The company said the mass closures are in response to a change in customer behaviour and preferences.
