A Vancouver elementary school was locked down late Thursday morning, after a man ran into the school, claiming that he was being chased.

The incident took place at Annie B. Jamieson Elementary school, and the Vancouver Police responded with a full sweep of the school.

Students and staff remained in their rooms while police conducted a precautionary search and all members of the school were reported safe.

In a release, the Vancouver School Board (VSB) said that police “have spoken to the man claiming to be chased, but found no one else on site.”

“The VPD doesn’t believe there’s any danger to anyone in the neighbourhood and the lockdown was lifted at about 12:25 pm,” the VSB added. “School will be in session for the remainder of the day and extra counselling support is on the way.”
