Save On Meats Closing During Building Renovations

Dec 19 2017, 4:14 pm

Save on Meats (43 West Hastings Street) will be closing temporarily starting September 2, but don’t worry you’ll still be able to get your diner fix as Owner Mark Brand has confirmed a Save On Meats Pop-up restaurant.

Earlier this week, Brand tweeted that Save ON Meats will be closing due to circumstances out of his control. Naturally, this set of a social media firestorm that was quickly calmed as it turns out the closure would be temporary.

Developer Anthem Properties own the building and will be renovating the top three floors into office space. Part of the renovation includes seismic upgrades, hence the reason for the closure of both the diner and the butcher shop.

The sandwich window will continue to operate through the renovations.

A reopening date can’t be confirmed. The hope is to have it open before Christmas.

During the closure a pop-up restaurant will open at 1 West Cordova, currently home to No. 1 Noodle House. No. 1 Noodle house was a temporary experiment and for now will be home to the new Save on Meats.
