Another San Diego Comic-Con International has come and gone but as per usual some special trailers and information was shot through the pop culture universe and has made some of us a tad…excited? Below are a roundup of some of the new previews that caused world-wide nerdgasms.
All kinds of people made the trek down to southern Cali including Deadpool who did things the ol’fashion way.
First off, let’s start up with some television. Some of the networks are starting to showoff some of the new shows they have coming in fall and early next year.
Fear the Walking Dead (Filmed in Vancouver) is The Walking Dead spinoff series set to make it’s debut on August 23, 2015 on AMC. At SDCC they released their first feature trailer.
Speaking of The Walking Dead, at SDCC season 6 was announced to be coming to AMC on October 11th. If you’ve never watched the show, you can catch it on Netflix or AMC will be doing a marathon from the beginning starting on July 26th. Here is the trailer for the new season.
Robert Kirkman who created The Walking Dead has a new show coming to our TV sets called Outcast and they made a splash at the SDCC with a trailer for the season debut (no premier date announced yet). The show is an adaptation of Kirkman and co-creator Paul Azaceta’s Image Comics/Skybound series. This looks like a beauty but we may have to wait until 2016.
You can’t do SDCC without some Game of Thrones. HBO didn’t release a trailer for next year’s new season, but they did give us a video mash-up of some of the GOT pop culture references throughout the television world.
MTV released a trailer at SDCC for their new 2016 show The Shannara Chronicles. It’s based on a series of fantasy books by Terry Brooks. The show debuts on January 16th, 2016. The show looks epic! Have a look at this trailer:
Some of you are into BBC’s Doctor Who series. Peter Capaldi (The 12th Doctor) made his first appearance at Comic-Con International along with a trailer for the upcoming season 9 season which debuts on September 19, 2015.
With Arrow and The Flash being big hits on CW, the network put together a promo video that hypes their upcoming new series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which is set to make a debut next year.
For more DC action, but of the adult and humorous variety, the popular Robot Chicken show will being doing their third DC Comics Special: Robot Chicken DC Comics Special 3: Magical Friendship set to hit our televisions this fall.
For those who were fans of the horror film The Omen, a new television series called Damien will be coming to A&E. It is set 25 years after the events of The Omen. The show is directed by former Walking Dead show runner Glen Mazzarra. No premier date has been announced but here is a teaser trailer.
Ash vs. Evil Dead is a new television series coming to the STARZ Network and they released one of the biggest and juiciest trailers at SDCC. Bruce Campbell returns as an older ass kicker taking on some more demon baddies. It also stars Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana Delorenzo and Jill Marie Jones. The first season consists of ten 30-minute episodes, the first of which is directed by Raimi.The show is set to premier this Halloween (October 31, 2015).
Remember the show Heroes? Well it’s coming back to NBC but this time it’s called Heroes: Reborn. The original show had a good couple of seasons but failed to keep that momentum and fizzled out. Now it appears the concept is getting another shot in the arm. NBC has released the trailer online for everyone to get a taste of what to expect this fall.
Although another trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was not released, what fans got instead was just as cool. In what was the biggest video to hit the Comic-Con this year, Star Wars gave fans a behind the scenes look at the highly anticipated film. Star Wars Episode VII is coming to theatres this Christmas. Star Wars fans get a little teary eyed when watching this.
Warner Bros. opened its SDCC panel with a new extended trailer for star Henry Cavill’s other movie the Guy Richie-directed Man from U.N.C.L.E. The film opens on Aug. 14, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. also stars Jared Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, Alicia Vikander, and Hugh Grant.
The other big trailer was for Warner Brothers’ Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer that hit SDCC. We finally get to see how this film is going to look with Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight and Henry Cavill returning as the Man of Steel. Directed by Zack Snyder and also starring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters March 25, 2016.
Suicide Squad released a trailer that gave us a good look at some of the DC Comic baddies who will be teaming up together to help save the world. We also get our first look at Jared Leto as The Joker. The film opens August 5, 2016 and is directed by David Ayer.
Other villains include Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Many people at SDCC cheered when they saw the trailer and liked what they saw. How about you?
There were some other trailers released exclusively for the SDCC attendees but of course people recorded them with their camera phones so the quality is garbage.
Deadpool, and X-Men Apocalypse premiered some full length previews that we’re not allowed to put up for obvious reasons. If you are into shaky cell phone videos of videos, you will have no problems finding them online.
