FEATURED EVENTS IN YOUR CITY
Get ready to celebrate BC’s largest Earth Day party in Metro Vancouver!
The City of Surrey is set to host the eighth annual Party for the Planet at Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 14 – one week before Earth Day! And this year’s event is going to be better than ever.
Canadian singer-songwriter Sam Roberts will be headlining with a matinee performance at 3:15 pm. The five-time JUNO award winner will be playing special acoustic renditions of some of his greatest hits, along with tracks from the Sam Roberts Band’s most recent album, Terraform.
Presented by TD, Party for the Planet is free to attend, so you have a great excuse to round up all of your friends for a day out to celebrate the wonderful world that we live in. Plus, it’s super accessible to get there, since the Plaza is located at Surrey Central SkyTrain station.
“We are excited to host Canadian music icon Sam Roberts as our first ever matinee headliner at Party for the Planet,” says Mayor Linda Hepner. “This year we have scheduled our headline act so it is more accessible to families and attendees as they visit the various environmental and educational exhibits throughout the day.”
“We invite everyone to come out and learn about the City of Surrey’s many ongoing sustainability initiatives while experiencing exceptional Canadian entertainment in celebration of Earth Day,” Mayor Hepner added.
Additional entertainers include Vancouver’s up and coming pop/R&B group Star Captains, DJ and production group The Freshest, the Colin Bullock Duo and children’s entertainers Bobs & LoLo and Rockin’ Robin.
There’s also going to be a plant sale (starting at $2) and a tree sale ($20) where you can snap up some gorgeous greens for your home or garden.
You’ll be sure to have fun while you’re there with attractions like the bike-powered smoothie stop, storytelling, kid’s eco-crafts, road hockey, a zip line, enviro-bungee, a photobooth, an urban farmers market, food trucks, Science World demos, and a variety of local and environmental vendors.
