According to a statement released by the company, Saje is warning customers not to use Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash because it may contain the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
“Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that causes infection and results in bacteria in the blood, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems.”
While the company “doesn’t know if all batches of Splish Splash were affected, [they] are being proactive and recalling all products immediately.”
They also comment that they are doing “everything in [their] power to directly contact everyone who purchased or received Splish Splash Baby Wash in order to prevent any additional risk.”
The wash, which comes in 250 ml and 50 ml packages can be found in the following products.
The product has been distributed to its retail locations in provinces across Canada, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
The wash has also been sold internationally and in the US through online sales.
Saje explains that there have been three reported cases of allergic rashes or itching. Customers were asked if they wanted further follow up from the company, however, they all declined.
Anyone who has received or purchased the baby wash in any size or format is asked to return the product to a retail outlet for a full refund.
Kiara LeBlanc, Chief Product & Creative Officer of the company, comments:
“On behalf of Saje, I wholeheartedly apologize for potentially putting you or your loved ones at risk. I remain committed to our mission of global wellness and am dedicated to upholding the highest quality standards for our community.”
