Is Evan Gold poised to be the next general manager of the Vancouver Canucks?
It certainly sounds like it.
Though don’t count out Ryan Johnson just yet.
There was no shortage of Canucks front office chatter from hockey insiders on Monday morning.
Henrik and Daniel Sedin are taking on elevated roles in the organization, which appears to be clear through multiple reports, though they won’t be the “primary decision makers,” according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. We’re still waiting for clarity on what their new jobs will actually be.

Is Evan Gold going to be named Canucks GM this week? (Boston Bruins)
Gold, the 46-year-old assistant general manager of the Boston Bruins, appears to be the pick for Canucks GM. Postmedia’s Patrick Johnston said he believes it’ll be Gold, but that he doesn’t have it “100 per cent locked down.”
“It seems like Gold is the likely winner here,” NHL insider Chris Johnston added on his podcast.
To be clear and you are all going to groan a little at me: this about SedinsI *believe* Gold is going to be GM but I don’t have that 100 per cent locked down.

But could Johnson still land the role?
“Most people feel that Jim Rutherford is pushing for Johnson,” said CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal. “Most people feel that the ownership could be leaning towards the fresh face… Evan Gold.”

We’ll see what other moves are coming, but there has been discussion that current assistant general managers Emilie Castonguay and/or Cammi Granato could be let go. And if Johnson doesn’t get the GM job, might he be gone from his AGM role also?
Then there’s the scouting staff, which is expected to see major changes after the draft.
Last but not least, what does the future hold for Patrik Allvin? Relieved of his duties as general manager, Allvin was offered another job within the organization. Is he actually considering it?
Dhaliwal said Allvin was at Rogers Arena on Monday morning, perhaps for scouting meetings.
