A curious food biz partnership has sprung forth, and the result is going to be a new farm-to-table concept restaurant called Royal Dinette, taking over the main floor of the Blackbird Public House & Oyster Bar.
View the Vibe reports that Royal Dinette is a Donnelly Group venture, but will be run by Dave Gunawan, the acclaimed chef and restaurateur behind Farmer’s Apprentice.

To say Farmer’s Apprentice and the Donnelly Group’s restaurants/bars are two different beasts is an understatement, but Gunawan told View the Vibe that the agreement has Donnelly totally hands-off in a silent partnership.
Right now Blackbird’s main floor is getting a full reno, and will open as Royal Dinette in July, complete with a “small seasonal menu.” Gunawan told View the Vibe the bigger restaurant (75 seats) allows him to support more local farmers.

For downtowners, this means an additional high-quality option in the Financial District for thoughtful dining. In the meantime, fans of Gunawan can head to his new wine bar, Grapes & Soda to see what he’s up to there.
