Ice cream obsessed Vancouver has just got a little bit sweeter, thanks to the opening of a new artisan ice cream bar on East Broadway, located just half a block from VCC.
With a focus on offering affordable, tasty, fresh ice cream products to their customers, Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar produces on site a range of enticing ice cream flavours, including caramel and sea salt, whisky and hazelnut, London Fog, triple strawberry vanilla bean, blueberry and balsamic, fresh lemon and poppy seed, dark chocolate chunk, cookies and cream, lime and organic lavender, and matcha green tea.

The sweet looking, 800-square-foot ice creamery also offers a few vegan options, in the way of vegan avocado and swirled raspberry, and vegan coconut fudge.
Using a small ice cream maker, Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar combines all kinds of ingredients, like strawberries, blueberries (all berries are dehydrated before they are added – a time consuming but crucial part of the artisan ice cream making process), avocado, nuts, whisky, and real vanilla bean, to a milk base provided by Island Dairy.
In an effort not to compromise the quality of their small-batch ice cream, Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar uses fresh strawberries, blueberries, lemon, lime and an array of other ingredients.

The team at Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar are constantly developing new and exciting recipes, while improving on the existing ones. In the coming weeks, they have plans to sell root beer and orange soda floats. Then when the cooler weather sets in, the ice creamery will offer a hot chocolate float, and a coffee float, in addition to an ice cream cookie sandwich.
Customers can treat themselves to a single scoop ($5), a double scoop ($6), or should they desire a sundae ($6). There’s even a kids scoop available for $3.25.
Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar’s hours of operation are Monday to Sunday, from Noon to 10 p.m.
