Rocky Mountain Soap Company opening two toxin-free stores in Metro Vancouver

Rocky Mountain Soap Company – out of Canmore, Alberta – have announced they will open two new locations in Metro Vancouver this November: downtown Vancouver’s Bentall Centre and Burnaby’s Metropolis at Metrotown.

The construction of the new locations will fall in line with the concept the company has become known for: a 100% natural and toxic-free experience. The company will avoid a “Red List” of toxins typically found within a built environment. Karina Birch, President of Rocky Mountain Soap Company says the materials used are either reused, re-claimed, recycled or compostable with a further tenant that no parts of the store will ever end up in a landfill.

“We were committed to using only 100% natural and toxin free ingredients in 2006, and are transitioning into using only organic ingredients and sourcing earth-friendly packaging. These are both reasonable next steps in our evolution,” Birch said. “But, what we found missing in our industry, and in retails overall, is a consciousness around the health of the store environment and in the construction of retail spaces.

“We wanted to get extreme. Our products are natural, so it only makes sense to ensure that our stores are as healthy as our products. We don’t want our guests to have any concerns about toxins in any way shape or form while visiting us, and we want to have the least impact as possible on the earth while offering a fun and toxin-free experience.”

Rocky Mountain Soap has already been successful in launching toxin-free stores in Edmonton and Canmore, and currently operates eight locations in Western Canada.

Since 1995, Rocky Mountain has been making natural soap by hand. Today, they have grown to offer a wide selection of personal care products created with a conscious commitment to remove toxins from our world. They use only the finest essential oils, pure natural beeswax, food grade vegetable oils, real grains, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables.

Rocky Mountain Soap Company products are simple, real and truly natural. They are proud to be one of the few companies to whom word natural actually means “from the earth.” The chemicals commonly used in body care products, whether absorbed through the skin, rinsed down the shower drain, or end up in landfill sites, cause serious concerns for human health, wildlife, ecosystems and watersheds. These ingredients have no place at Rocky Mountain Soap Company.

The two new stores are set to open in November and looks to cleanup in B.C’s bubbling soap market.
