10 Vancouver artists you need to see at Robson Street on Canada Day

Canada Day is approaching and that means you can enjoy yourself in the heart of Downtown Vancouver at a massive Canada 150 celebration on Robson Street.
The free event is kicking off at 11 am on Saturday, July 1, and you can expect an awesome music lineup featuring some of Vancouver’s best artists.
Organized by the Robson Street Business Association (RSBA) and the West End Business Improvement Association (WEBIA), the event will offer a slew of fun things that you can enjoy. Think free crepe samples to free iced tea, discounted shopping, happy hour promotions, and even a RYU Apparel kettle bell workout.
But what would a fun event be without awesome soundtracks to match? We’ve compiled a list of five of the top Vancouver artists that you can see perform on July 1.
Karla Sax
Performance times: 11 am – 1 pm
Saxophone instrumentalist Karla is known for performing at some of the city’s top venues and also internationally. Prepare to dance – she plays contemporary jazz over house, along with electronic and pop music.
Baby C
Performance times: 1:15 – 2 pm
Baby C is an emerging Vancouver hip-hop artist that you’ll want to see at this free event. She uses empowering lyrics and rhythms to create music that spans the genres of EDM, hip-hop, and rock. And she’ll be performing with DJ A-Slam of Global Party Starters.
David Morin
Performance times: 1:15 – 3:15 pm
Switch things up by hearing soul and R&B music from David Morin. The Vancouverite is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Derek Pitts
Performance times: 12- 1 pm
Vancouver-based folk rock and soul musician Pitts will be performing his creative tracks at this Robson Street event. You’ll get to hear how he writes about the chaos of life while dancing to his music.
Joshua Minksy
Performance times: 11 am – 3 pm
Minksy is a French-inspired Vancouver artist who delves into blues, reggae, jazz, and even Brazilian sounds in his tracks. Check him out to experience something truly different and enlightening.
Thomas Beckman of Sons Of Granville
Performance times: 1 – 1:45 pm
Violist Thomas is a classically trained musician and part of the folk-rock band Sons of Granville. Catch his performance to see the amazing dimensions he brings to the Vancouver music scene.
The Elevens
Performance times: 2 – 2:45 pm
The Elevens have an energetic, vibrant sound that you’ll be able to hear at Canada Day on Robson Street. Hear lead vocalist Mike Costea, guitarist, Arik Dicks, bass player Troy Giffin, and see Brennan Buglioni on the drums rocking out on the Canada Day stage.
Chelsea Charlton
Performance times: 3 – 5 pm
Vancouver singer-songwriter Chelsea Charlton mixes folk roots and Americana southern rock in her music which will no doubt have you on your feet dancing. She has recored a ton of music in Nashville and you can see her performance right here in her hometown.
Twist Parties
Performance times: 11 am – 4 pm
If you’re looking to see something bespoke, check out Twist Parties‘ performance featuring everything from balloon twisting, stage shows, super heroes, and much more.
Small Stage
Performance times: 11 am – 4 pm
Small Stage Dancers are a non-profit dance company devoted to producing art-filled and creative dance. Check out their cutting-edge performance this Saturday.
You’ll also be able to hear a performance from talented pianist Clare Wyatt from 11 am to 4 pm, get your face painted by Looking Glass Facepainting, see a magic show by Will Stelfox Magic, and much more.
Chris Hyndman of the The Quixotic Neurotics will be performing on Cardero Street from 11 am and Claude Duke begins his performace at midday.
