Did you know that the Richmond Summer Night Market was named one of the top night markets in the world? Well this year that night market will face a stiff competitor, the River Rock Richmond Night Market, as the founder of the original Richmond Night Market has high hopes to bring back an international sensation for the spring and summer of 2012.
The 2012 Richmond Night Market will open on a large 18-acre site at the north end of No. 3 Road at River Road—a property known as Duck Island, just west of the River Rock Casino Resort.
The market has the potential to be Richmond’s biggest draw, bringing in hundreds of thousands of people from not just the Lower Mainland, but potentially from all over the world as it’s close to the airport and is easily accessible by rapid transit. Unlike the Summer Night Market behind the Home Depot, which is only really accessible by car.
There will be close to 250 merchandise booths, 80 food vendors, a diversity of family-friendly entertainment, and more than a thousand nearby parking stalls. Further, this year’s market will also feature carnival rides and a children’s amusement zone, adding thrills and chills to the nightly experience.
The new location is much more convenient, as it’s closer to the heart of the city, and offers easy access by foot, car, bus or Canada Line train. Sitting beside the new terminus for express buses from Delta and White Rock, the new site promises to draw people from a wider area than ever before, as it’s less than a 20-minute ride to Downtown Vancouver, and a short five-minute hop to the Vancouver International Airport.

Dates Open: May 18 to Oct 8, 2012
Dates/Times: Fri and Sat:7:00pm to 12:00am, Sundays and Holidays: 7:00pm to 11:00pm
