River District Vancouver (East Fraserlands)

Dec 19 2017, 12:56 pm

One of the last large parcels of land in Vancouver is set to be developed very shortly. The project formerly known as East Fraserlands is now called the “River District” and will be built on the former 130 acres of industrial land south of Marine Way and east of Kerr Street to Boundary. The site is now zoned for high density residential, retail and commercial office use.

The project is similar to the Olympic Village neighbourhood in scope, though not as high profile and will most likely be developed in phases. Upon completion expect anywhere from 20,ooo – 25,000 residents calling “River District” home. Further, there will be a commercial centre in the form of a ‘High Street’.

The new community will also include parks, a community centre, schools, childcare facilities, a riverfront walk plus more. The new community is to be built out over a period of about 25 years and is being built with future transit (rapid or street car to Cambie and Marine) needs in mind.
