Car crashes into Richmond restaurant, several people injured

A car drove into a restaurant on No. 3 Road in Richmond this morning, injuring a number of people who were in the area at the time.

The incident occurred at The One Cafe near the Canada Line’s Richmond-Brighouse Station. The restaurant is located mid-block between between Westminster Highway and Saba Road, away from any intersections, alleys or parking lot driveways.

The car crashed into a hydrant and a tree before hitting the glass storefront of the building.

According to witnesses, two pedestrians were injured and taken to hospital in stable condition. Investigators with Richmond RCMP will launch an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the collision. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident.

One southbound lane of No. 3 Road has been closed; drivers in the area should expect delays.
