Review: The Naked and Famous Oct. 20

Dec 19 2017, 4:37 pm

New Zealand based indie-electro pop quintet The Naked and Famous dazzled a packed house at the Vogue Theatre this past Sunday, Oct. 20.

Currently touring in support of their latest release ‘In Rolling Waves’ the group made their first return to Vancouver since playing the Commodore Ballroom in the Spring of 2012. Despite having a cold, vocalist Alisa Xayalith, gave 110 per cent and the adoring crowd were happy to help out by singing along. It was apparent the synth-pop group’s Vancouver fanbase grew since their last visit.

The Naked and Famous are one of those bands who are exceptional in recordings but even more powerful live. The chemistry and synchronism between vocalists Xayalith and Thom Powers in itself is magnetic, with the addition of a thrilling light show and their quirky stage presence, they are impressive.
