Passion, dance and sensuality dominate at SYN, The Lovers Cabaret’s second show in their bold new Noir series. Five goddesses of the deadliest sins sneak past the eye of the gatekeeper and enter the mortal realm for the evening. What ensues is a show that’s impossible to resist.
The show stars Rachel Routledge as the Goddess of Wrath, Camille J. Hannah as the Goddess of Pride, Portia Favro as the Goddess of Lust, Monica Gutierrez as the Goddess of Greed, and Vanessa Young as the Goddess of Envy. The avante-garde group The Lovers Cabaret, led by established producer Young and her talented team of fellow choreographers and artists, tell the daring story of sin with a variety of dance genres including contemporary, burlesque, jazz, salsa and ballet.
Once they cross into the mortal realm, the goddesses show up all over the world, wreaking havoc in Havana, disturbing the Parisian peace, and leaving a mark on the New York nightlife. With these destinations come the corresponding dance styles, all of which were choreographed and danced masterfully. Despite the globetrotting, the show maintains a great narrative while having fun with the variety of international flavours.

No stranger to sultry performances, the Fox Cabaret could not be a more perfect venue for SYN. What sets this show apart is the brilliant use of the whole venue as a performance space. The goddesses slither through the audience, tease spectators and hide playfully in the shadows. The experience is immersive and entertaining, amplified wonderfully by the sexy vibes of the Fox’s recent makeover.
A highlight of SYN for this reviewer is the super hot soundtrack. From Glass Animals to The xx to Robert Manos, the person tasked with tune selection for this show surely boasts a great sex playlist. If you struggle with DJing your bedroom escapades, SYN will definitely inspire a fresh score for the next time you score.
Backed by an uber-talented ensemble of dancers, the goddesses of SYN are a sight to see this April. Be sure to catch their next sinful sojourn in the human realm later this month.
