One of the most popular destinations in the B.C. Interior has levelled up this summer with the addition of a brand new viewing platform and suspension bridge thousands of feet in the air.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is opening the new Highline sightseeing attraction on Friday, Aug. 22. The family-friendly activity offers scenic views of the hills, the Columbia River, and the year-round destination.

“As we approach the end of a busy summer season, we are pleased to introduce a new attraction to our line-up,” said Peter Nielsen, vice-president and general manager at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, in a release.

“The Revelstoke Highline offers an entirely new way for our guests to experience the beauty of the Monashees and the Columbia River Valley. It’s a truly unique and elevated mountain experience that we’re proud to share with both visitors and our local community.”

Visitors to the Revelstoke Highline will discover a stunning trail steps from the top of the gondola. The sights begin with a comfortable walk to a cantilevered viewing deck that is over 5,500 ft. (1,690 metres) above sea level.

Next, you’ll journey across the Revelstoke Highline suspension bridge, stretching 248 ft. (75.5 metres) across two rock outcroppings at a height of 4,101 ft. (1,250 metres) above the valley.

Local residents are also invited to visit the new attraction for free from Saturday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 29, by presenting proof of local address upon arrival at Guest Services.

Those wanting to make the most of summer while discovering even more amazing attractions and destinations around B.C. are in luck this year with the new Canada Strong Pass.

The pass is currently in effect across B.C., with 19 different federal sites offering free or discounted admission to visitors until Tuesday, Sept. 2.

These destinations include provincial and territorial museums and galleries, national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada.
