Rev up for Revlon

Last week, London Drugs organized a Revlon event bringing together a few of my favourites things at Sugar Studios on a rainy fall night. Beauty products and food were at the centre of this event. Guests were privy to a sneak peak of the 2012 Revlon collection in addition to their sister brand, Almay with snacks and entertainment provided by celebrity Chef and expert Cheesesteak Maker, Anthony Sedlak.

I’m a fan of drugstore makeup. They certainly aren’t always on par with specialty beauty brands, but some items are definitely comparable, and for fraction of the price it’s a nice way to trial and error with new products. A category where I would always opt for the drugstore brand is nail polishes. Revlon has a new ColorStay line of nail polishes that is formulated to resemble gel nails, that anybody can now try at home. Think of it as the DIY version of shellac nails, promising un-chipped nails for 14 days; the first of its kind on the market. I’ve been sporting my polish for a week now, and while there is little bit of wear and tear showing, it is generally intact.

Another new line of lipsticks that Revlon is announcing is the ColorBurst Lip Butter and I’m pleasantly surprised with this one. I’m an original lip stick girl and don’t care too much for glosses or tints but this is a good combination of sheer yet pigmented colour, plus a formula that doesn’t leave your lips sticky. It has good buildable colour without too much gloss that gives an understated look.

These are only a few of the new products joining the 2012 Revlon line. There’s also a great quad with a pink blush, bronzer and highlighter all in one that I have my eye on. Enjoyed having the Revlon Experts from NYC join us here on the Canadian west coast. Thanks to London Drugs for the event and look forward to attending more!
