A new study shows that one in five Canadians have an idea for their own potato chip flavour. Mine? Perogies with sauteed onions and bacon on a wavy chip.
From now until April 23, consumers can submit their flavour ideas at www.Lays.ca/Flavour for a chance to win $50,000 CDN plus one per cent of their flavour’s future sales (after the voting period). Building on the success of last year’s program, the 2014 edition of the Lay’s Do Us a Flavour contest features a new twist – Canadians will now be able to choose from three potato chip styles for their flavour ideas: Lay’s Original, Lay’s Kettle Cooked and/or Lay’s Wavy
Globally, the Do Us a Flavour campaign has resulted in a wide spectrum of chip flavour ideas including:
- Mastana Mango (India)
- Walkie Talkie Chicken (South Africa)
- Caesar Salad and Late Night Kabob (Australia)
- Chilli & Chocolate and Cajun Squirrel (UK)
- Cheesy Garlic Bread (U.S.)
This year, the contest is being hosted on the Lay’s Canada Do Us a Flavour microsite at www.Lays.ca/Flavour.
In April, the submissions will be narrowed down to four finalist flavours by a panel of qualified judges and will then be made available in stores nationwide beginning on or around August 10. Once they hit shelves, Lay’s fans across the country will be able to purchase and try all four finalist flavours and vote for their favourite until October 15, 2014.
While all four finalists will have the chance to see their flavours come alive on the shelf, only the grand prize winner will take home $50,000 plus one per cent of their flavour’s future sales (after the voting period). The grand prize winner is set to be announced in November 2014.
