Frankie’s is an old favourite for true Italian flavours. Mixed with a side of jazz or a stiff drink, any pasta dish is sure to be a knockout. Frankie’s also boasts a substantial bar menu with items like Caruso Poutine (house made italian sausage, bolognese, crisp fries, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese) and the famous Frankie’s meatballs, perfect for sharing over a glass of wine. We love this combination restaurant and music lounge on The Drive; it’s always packed when the musicians start playing. Get in early to avoid disappointment. Libra Room’s menu is tapas-inspired, and the mussels, served with shoestring fries in a variety of tasty broths, are especially divine.

Another Commercial Drive hot-spot, Tangent Café is always bumping due to their affordable and well-priced food and drink options. A mix of Malaysian favourites and Western classics, Tangent’s menu is brightened by mee goreng and a perfectly crispy roti canai. Mouth-watering goodness that will enhance your live music experience.

This Strathcona haunt at The Patricia Hotel is getting some overdue attention with the help of the Vancouver Jazz Festival. Their signature Pat’s Classic Lager is microbrewed on-site, alongside a great selection of local craft beer. A East Van dive with plenty of character, Pat’s has some of the best food deals to be found in Vancouver – nothing on the menu is higher than $11.
