A much loved Main Street institution Liberty Bakery and Café has re-opened, after short hiatus while the bake house, under new ownership, underwent a full renovation.
By removing the fixture that covered the kitchen and giving the store a once-over with a fresh coat of white paint, the team at Liberty Bakery have opened up the room, creating a remarkably bright space.
The bakery’s menu also received a revamp, with a range of new and creative dishes added. From the kitchen, patrons can expect to find a varied selection of breads, salads, soups, sandwiches and of course a tempting range of baked goods, cakes and pastries for which Liberty Bakery is known for. One dish that remains is the black bean soup – a neighbourhood favourite for years.
Miss Mary’s chocolate chip cookie, the Pulla (a tightly swirled Swedish cinnamon scroll) and Liberty Bakery’s signature gingerbread cookie are recommended, as are the savoury muffins.

All of Liberty Bakery’s pastries and menu items are made-in-house, using real butter instead of shortening, top grade Valrhona chocolate, and most of the fruits and vege used are in season.
In addition to Liberty Bakery’s edible delights, the bakery also proudly serves Elysian Coffee. Trained baristas pour well-brewed espresso based drinks, that are the perfect pastry accompaniment.
Liberty Bakery has been open collectively for over 16 years, and whilst this recent facelift has brought new life to the shop, it still retains it’s quaint charm and cosy ambience.
