Registration for SeaWheeze Vancouver Half Marathon 2015 begins on September 10

Dec 19 2017, 7:53 pm

If it feels like SeaWheeze 2014 happened just yesterday, you’d be right. The streets of Vancouver were flooded this past Saturday with 10,015 runners participating in the third annual SeaWheeze Half Marathon, organized by lululemon athletica.

But even though registration doesn’t open until Wednesday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m., demand for next year’s event on Saturday, August 15 is already soaring. It is expected that all 10,000+ spots in the race will be sold out within the first few hours of registration.

The popularity of this year’s event saw SeaWheeze’s website crash multiple times when registration initially began, pushing the process back a week in order to accommodate the overload of interest.

Though it’s normal for popular races such as this one to have registration begin almost a year out, if you’re planning on registering, you better do it sooner rather than later as you’ll be facing competition from around the world – approximately 70 percent of runners participating in this year’s half marathon event and festivities were from outside of Metro Vancouver, with some travelling from as far as Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia and Kenya.

Not only that, but during the event, 212 out of 217 Metro Vancouver hotels were completely sold out of hotel rooms, largely because of bookings by half marathon runners.

Registration for SeaWheeze will cost you $128 and comes with entry in to the half marathon, entry in to the Sunset Festival and Concert, multiple yoga practices with some of North America’s best teachers, SeaWheeze exclusive shorts, a SeaWheeze training-based app to support you in your training goals, access to official yogi and run trainers, a fully supported race route with aid, water, and fuelling stations and a post-race runners’ brunch.
