Refashion Vancouver 2013 at Yaletown Roundhouse

Refashion Vancouver is happening on April 20, 2013 and it’s a mix between a massive high-end clothing sale and a wild shopping party: it’s the place to go to sell your unworn clothes that are sitting in your closet taking up space, shop in the closets of other Vancouverites for practically-new pieces to refresh your style, while also being pampered by local businesses who are offering everything from hair styling and makeovers to mini manicures, sweet treats and luxury giveaways.

What is it?

Refashion Vancouver was born out of that feeling of exasperation that comes from staring at a closet full of clothes but feeling like you have nothing to wear. The organizers launched it to provide a venue for those of us with a serious shopping habit to make some cash back on our regretted purchases. Everyone has them – those pieces of clothing that we thought were a good idea at the time, only to realize shortly afterward that we weren’t in our right minds; the ones that don’t fit, and no matter how much we hope we’ll drop a size, we never do and they just hang there reminding us of that extra slice of cheesecake we really should have thought twice about; the ones that are absolutely stunning but we can’t for the life of us figure out where to wear them (where do you wear a pair of lime green polka-dot peeptoe pumps?).  We all have similar experiences of beautiful brand new clothes hidden away in the recesses of our closets and never worn.  And for every one of those stories, there is someone out there who is dying to re-fresh their wardrobe without breaking the bank.

It’s not a swap meet and it’s not a flea market – it’s not about swapping one piece for another or selling used clothes – it’s about selling the stuff that you never wear that’s brand new or nearly new. The guideline is that if you’ve worn it more than three times, you can’t sell it at ReFashion. The idea is people who live in apartments don’t have the ability to have a garage sale and it’s hard to reach the fashion-shoppers, so this event brings everyone together in one place!
Last year was the first ever Refashion Vancouver and it saw more than 800 shoppers through the door – that’s 800 people you’re selling your personal wardrobe to – better odds than you’d get at a garage sale! The organizers made the event into a major shopping party in an effort to support local businesses in the area, so expect to have free mini makeovers, hair styling, manicures, sweet treats, tons of giveaways and prizes. There’s also swag bags packed with amazing goodies for the first 20 people through the door.
