Dec 19 2017, 11:41 pm

Speed and endurance, and maybe your fear of heights, will all be tested in Red Bull’s vertical race.

Red Bull 400 will debut in Whistler on July 19.

Starting from the bottom of a ski jump, contestants will gain 400 metres of terrain vertically. The event will be hosted at the scenic Whistler Olympic Park, and will hold three different race categories that will bring the race to a variety of runners: coed relay (4x100m), full distance and a relay race dedicated for firefighters/police/EMS (4x100m).

Runners will then be tested for the finals for those individual categories. First place prize for the solo categories (men and women) include an all-inclusive trip to a secret location in Europe along with the winners of the same event hosted in six other worldwide locations. Second place will receive $500, and a North Face prizing. Third place will get $250 along with North Face prizing.

Registration deadline is by July 17 at 5 p.m. The solo relay costs $40, while co-ed and firefighter/police/EMS is $25. Refreshments and lunch will be provided to the participants at the day of the event.
