Ahh, the new year.

It’s the time of the year that reminds us what’s important in our life. A time that challenges us to set goals (big or small) for the year ahead to make sure that we prioritize those things. For you, this could mean taking up a new hobby, doing some travelling, changing your diet – or what could be the bravest one of all – switching up your career.

Sure, changing gears and moving into a new career is a big step – luckily, you don’t have to do it all at once. There’s a way that you can keep your current job set-up while furthering your education in pursuit of a career in tech, one of Vancouver’s fastest-growing sectors.

That’s right, digital education epicenter RED Academy offers a wide range of part-time
programs that suit your needs and the area you want to specialize in.

To celebrate the New Year and making resolutions you’ll actually keep, the tech school is giving Daily Hive readers the chance to win free tuition to their part-time program starting in January. For real.

And to help you see why you should apply, here’s a look at two of the part-time digital programs launching at RED Academy this coming January.

Digital Marketing Foundation

  • Starts January 16, Tuesdays and Thursday evenings or Saturday days

This program is designed for those who want to gain the practical skills needed to develop a digital marketing strategy in a professional setting, leveraging the software, tools, tactics, and techniques used in today’s industry. And once you’ve completed the program, you’ll be able to create and track digital marketing campaigns, determine cost-per-acquisition of customers and users, and leverage campaign data to increase ROI, as well as gain their Google Adwords and Analytics certifications.

Digital Design Foundation

  • Starts January 15, Monday and Wednesday evenings

If you’re looking to get an introduction to web design with a strong emphasis on user-centered design practices, this is the program for you. The program teaches students introductory skills in research, planning, design, plus testing and iterating for digital products. You’ll also learn to use design and prototyping tools, as well as essential presentation and storytelling skills. When you complete the program, you’ll have an overview of the entire UX and UI design processes and will be able to gather requirements, conduct user research, construct a basic sitemap and information architecture, leverage design patterns to construct wireframes, and much more.
