"ReBoot" remake given the green light by Corus to be made in Vancouver

If you’re a Canadian kid of the ’90s, you were likely a fan of the television show “ReBoot.” The first-of-its-kind digitally animated show is now getting new life in the form of a remake.

Corus Entertainment gave the green light to Mainframe Entertainment – the television division of the multifaceted Vancouver-based animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment – to produce 26 half-hour episodes of “ReBoot: The Guardian Code,” a reimagined version of the show that will be a live-action and computer generated hybrid.

The announcement was made at Banff World Media Festival by Corus Kids’ Director of Content, Jamie Piekarz.

“The new Reboot will feature the same action and comedy that viewers loved in the original series, but with an updated technological universe that will fascinate a new generation of kids,” Piekarz says in a press release.

The original ReBoot premiered in 1994 and was cancelled in 2001. It was the world’s first fully CG series and aired on YTV in Canada, and ABC and Cartoon Network in the states. The show also spun off a full toy range and a computer game.
