RCMP investigate death of young woman after falling from Surrey highrise

Dec 19 2017, 5:16 pm

The RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the case of a suspicious death involving a young woman this morning in Surrey.

The female fell to her death from a highrise building just after 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Few details are available at this time, although police witnessed the fall while responding to a domestic incident in the area.

One individual was arrested at the scene and more people were believed to be inside the apartment at the time of the fall. The identity of the woman is unknown.

In 2013, Surrey recorded 25 homicides – the most in the history of the municipality. This comes after yesterday’s death of 53-year old Julie Paskall who was viciously attacked on Sunday night outside a Surrey ice rink while picking up her son from a hockey game.

This morning’s deadly fall occurred near the 9900 block of Whalley Boulevard. RCMP are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activities, persons, or vehicle to please call the IHIT Tip line at 1-877-551-4448 by email at ihittipline[at]rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
