The RCMP in Nova Scotia says the situation is “all clear,” after earlier reports of gunshots in two Halifax-area regions.

At just after 3 pm ET on Friday, the RCMP issued an emergency alert after initial gunfire reports. Residents were being asked to stay inside and lock their doors as a precaution.

Police said they were on scene in a wooded area between Haliburton Hills and Highland Park Heights in “relation to a report of shots fired.” An additional report of shots fired in the Omega Court area of Hubley was also issued.

The RCMP has confirmed that the initial reports in Glen Arbour turned out to be noise from a construction site.

At just after 4:40 pm ET, the RCMP confirmed the areas of Haliburton Heights, Hubley, Tantallon, and Hammonds Plains had been “extensively” searched and found no evidence of shots fired.
