Breathe, Raptors fans.

Basketball fans north of the border are feeling a little uneasy after a report from the LA Times that Kawhi Leonard has purchased a brand new $13.3 million home.

Given that the mansion is located in Southern California, you can understand why.

Leonard has long been rumoured to be interested in playing in his hometown of Los Angeles, for either the Lakers or Clippers. One of the very best players in the NBA, Kawhi has transformed the Raptors from a pretender to a legitimate championship contender this season. He’s a free agent this summer.

Fans on social media were jumping to conclusions upon hearing the news.

The home is located in Rancho Santa Fe, north of San Diego. It’s a bit far to commute to Staples Center, the home of the Clippers and Lakers, though. According to Google Maps, the driving time from Rancho Santa Fe to Staples Center is 2-3 hours during rush hour, and still about an hour and a half with no traffic.

So perhaps this is nothing more than an offseason home. Given that Leonard makes more than $20 million per season and is due a hefty raise next year, he certainly can afford it.

Here’s how the listing agency, Barry Estates, describes the property:

A true tug-of-war between practicality and total indulgence, this Modern Masterpiece is a dramatic unfolding of exceptional beauty. Situated on over 5 Covenant acres, with direct access to walking & running trails, the 7-bedroom suite, one-level home was redesigned for ease of living! The drama unfolds the moment the private motor gates open. The grounds are a playground for the senses with honed European hardscape throughout, fruit garden, Four Seasons resort pool, tennis court w/private entrance. The amenities throughout are numerous with 5-star work out facility complete with dry sauna and adjacent outdoor shower, professional director’s movie theater, wine lounge & temperature controlled seamless glass wine room, new gourmet kitchen, his & her offices, lap-of-luxury Master suite with beautifully customized his and her couture dressing closets, new spa bath.

The 13,000 square foot home was purchased on October 1. It was built in 2003 and has seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, four garage spaces, a pool, and a movie theatre.
