Canada’s Milos Raonic has won the Brisbane International, defeating Roger Federer in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). It’s just the second time that Raonic has beaten the tennis legend.
Raonic lost in three sets to Federer in the final of this tournament last year.
The Brisbane International is a tune-up event for the Australian Open, which begins on January 18th. The tournament featured 8 of the top 20 tennis players in the world, so this is a big victory for Raonic. The win marks Raonic’s 8th tournament win of his career.
Raonic, now 25-years-old, was ranked 14th in the world coming into this tournament. Federer (34), was ranked 3rd.
