Raonic defeats Federer, wins Brisbane International tournament

Dec 20 2017, 3:33 am

Canada’s Milos Raonic has won the Brisbane International, defeating Roger Federer in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). It’s just the second time that Raonic has beaten the tennis legend.

Raonic lost in three sets to Federer in the final of this tournament last year.

The Brisbane International is a tune-up event for the Australian Open, which begins on January 18th. The tournament featured 8 of the top 20 tennis players in the world, so this is a big victory for Raonic. The win marks Raonic’s 8th tournament win of his career.

Raonic, now 25-years-old, was ranked 14th in the world coming into this tournament. Federer (34), was ranked 3rd.

The win is sweet revenge for Raonic, who lost in final of this tournament to Federer last year.
