On Wednesday afternoon at around 12 p.m., a man started randomly attacking pedestrians without any provocation. The man pushed a 68-year-old woman to the ground who was leaving the Costco on Expo Boulevard and then a short time later, a 39-year-old woman was pushed to the sidewalk on Abbott Street.

The man continued along Abbott Street to West Hastings where he shoulder checked a 20-year-old man. All three of the victims suffered minor injuries.

Numerous calls were made to 911, saying the man was randomly attacking and spitting on people. He was followed by witnesses and then located by police at West Hastings and Abbott.

Michael Vallis, 41, is in police custody, but investigators believe there were other victims who may have been attacked by him that day. They’re being asked to call VPD’s Robbery Assault Unit at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
