Top 3 rainy day activities for kids in the Fraser Valley

Dec 19 2017, 9:31 pm

As a parent, we all know what it’s like when the kids are out of school and it’s pouring rain out. Here in the Fraser Valley this happens more often than not. If you don’t want to drive them all the way into Vancouver to places like Science World or the Aquarium, we have your options (good, bad and ugly) for places to take the kids locally.

Captain Kids

This is an amazing gem of a place. The price point is the best in the Fraser Valley and they provide great seating, free wi-fi and perks for parents (including a massage chair). The only bizarre part is that it’s in an ice rink. They have heaters to ensure you’re kept warm, but expect to see hockey players strolling through the reception and the fine smell of hockey gloves in the air.

Chuck E Cheese

This is one crazy place. Kids love it, parents walk in with trepidation. It’s like Vegas for kids; non stop sounds, pinging, lights and bells ringing. Really horrible food, overpriced tokens, with your kids spending way too many tokens on one 30 second game that pumps out four or five tickets that they try to save up to get dollar store junk. There are a few fun games that you could enjoy, and a couple two players games that you can enjoy with your child.  Be sure to check their website and apps like Foursquare for free tokens.

Castle Fun Park

That castle off the highway is amazing. This place encompesses go-karting, batting cages, video games and two indoor mini-golf options. Their food is half decent with not bad pricing. It’s a fun, family run place that has been around for ages and has lasted the test of time.
