Pack your umbrella and Gore-Tex, because Vancouver is in for a wet week ahead.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver, with heavy rains at times expected.
Between 50 and 70 mm of precipitation is expected to accumulate by the end of tonight. And it’s just the start of a rainy weather forecast for the region until at least the start of next week.

This ECCC warning is due to an active frontal system bringing rain, at times heavy, to the Vancouver North Shore, Vancouver Northeast, and Howe Sound.
“The heaviest rain will taper off overnight tonight as the low weakens and pushes inland. Scattered showers will persist through Thursday,” added ECCC, warning that possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts may occur.

ECCC is also alerting folks that localized flooding is a possibility, especially at lower elevations and in areas with poor drainage systems, and that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
And if the rain is bringing you down, just remember we don’t have it nearly as bad as our friends in Alberta or Ontario.
Are you ready for the rain to go away? Do you prefer it to the recent snowfall in Metro Vancouver? Let us know in the comments.
