Rainfall warning issued for Metro Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 8:39 pm

Happy November! Vancouver’s historically wettest month has returned in full force with a rainfall warning issued Monday morning.

Metro Vancouver is expected to see upwards of 50mm of rain, most significantly hitting the North Shore, West Fraser Valley and southern sections of Howe Sound. The rain will become heavy tonight but taper off by Tuesday morning.

Because we’ve seen so much rain as of late, the ground is near saturation, and further rain accumulation may lead to localized flooding. Environment Canada is warning people to stay away from rivers, creeks and culverts where washouts may occur.

Tuesday looks like it will be the best day this week, with only a 40 per cent chance of rain, a high of 13 degrees and some sunny breaks.
