Racist Bruins fans angry with Joel Ward

Dec 19 2017, 1:40 pm

Though it’s no real compensation for last year’s disappointment, Canucks fans can take some satisfaction the Capitals Game 7 elimination of the Bruins last night in Boston.

Something else coming out of the Bruins’ defeat fans can take satisfaction in is the fact our fan base, despite getting a bad rap for lacking class at times, would likely not stoop to the levels of some fans in Boston.

As noted by the above image, Capitals forward Joel Ward, who is of Barbadian descent, scored the overtime winner. This prompted quite a large number of people to take to social media to voice their hatred towards Ward.

Since then, a number of people who tweeted the hateful messages have deleted their accounts, but this act of ignorance is unlikely to go unnoticed by media and is a black eye on the city.
