Queen Elizabeth Park celebrates their 75th anniversary with Party in Park

Dec 20 2017, 1:11 am

There’s one last outdoor party happening this summer that is not to be missed. The Vancouver Park Board is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth Park by throwing a massive party on September 13.

The QE Party in the Park will bring live music, a 450-seat beer garden, free pitch and putt golf, food trucks like Mum’s Grilled Cheese and The Reef and $5 zipline rides to all attendees, as well as free access to the Bloedel Conservatory, from noon to 7 p.m.

Headlining band Delhi 2 Dublin will perform from 5:45 to 7 p.m., taking over the stage from The Zolas, Patrick Nazemi, Hot Panda and Pop Junkies. Both the stage and the beer garden will be located on the grass area between the Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club and Queen Elizabeth Pitch & Putt.

Other activities include:

  • Aerial performances by CircusWest
  • Family entertainment in the fountain plaza area including face painting, photo booth and stilt walkers
  • Free lawn bowling at the Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club
  • Free pickleball at the tennis courts

The 130-acre Queen Elizabeth Park was built in 1939 after the site was used as a quarry for rock and minerals which supplied the materials to build Vancouver’s first paved streets.
