Project Nightfire at the Vancouver Art Gallery

Dec 19 2017, 12:35 pm

This Friday September 10th and Saturday 11th at 9:00pm the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) on the Georgia street/water fountain side will be transformed into a spectacular digital animation display that isn’t to be missed! The project is called Nightfire.

What exactly can one expect? Well Nightfire is a 3D building manipulation piece, which uses the boundaries of the VAG to tell a compelling narrative (picture the burning building art installation a while back but with a story). Rival Schools will tell the story of an fallen angel.

Broken, she’s found by a lone man who, with love, takes her on a journey back to her home. Set to the music “Nessun Dorma” from Turandot, audiences will be wowed, as light, shadow and colour are projected on the Vancouver landmark to create illusion and transform it appearance.

This is a free event and I expect that large crowds will gather outside the VAG to witness Project Nightfire in all its glory. Let’s hope the weather holds up.

Check out this test that was performed on September 6th.
