5 private islands you can rent in BC

Daily Hive Staff Aug 18, 2017 7:00 am 13,589

Hanging out in a hotel room can be nice.

Renting a cabin with all your friends is even better.

But nothing quite trumps having an entire island at your disposal… and it’s actually a possibility this summer.

We’re already spoiled enough getting to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, so why not splurge by renting out a small piece of it for you and your loved ones?

Along BC’s coast there are hundreds of little islands just waiting to be discovered, and a few that could be yours—for a few nights, at least.

So call up some friends, put the word out on Facebook, and smash open that piggy bank to end this summer off in style at any one of these private paradises.

Lamb Island

This cute little Island is the perfect place for a romantic retreat. Sit in the hot tub while listening to the waves crash against the shore, then retire to the separate bedroom. An ideal getaway from the bustle of everyday life.

Where: Located in the Sechelt Inlet, Sechelt

Cost: $235 per night

Frank Island

A trip to Tofino is already a good time, but it would only be made better by forgoing the usual hostels and instead renting an entire island. Located close to Chesterman Beach, you won’t even have to worry about strapping the surfboard to the car—you’ll already be right there in the waves.

Where: Chesterman Beach, Tofino

Cost:$275 to $300 per night

Out There Private Island

The name says it all. If your goal is to get off the grid, Out There Private Island is just the place you want to go. Located in the islands north of Sechelt, it is a great place to experience an area of BC that is seldom seen.

Where: Just north of Earl’s Cove

Cost: $400 per night

Squamish Waterfront Cabin

Okay, while this one is more of a peninsula than a full-on island, it’s still got that amazing waterfront view. A bit easier to get to than most of the other places on our list, this waterfront cabin features a gorgeous porch and a private beach for you and your guests.

Where: Squamish, five minutes away from Shannon Falls

Cost: $229 per night

Discovery Islands

With a private cabin, dock, and 122 acres all to yourself (and whoever you decide to bring) this island is, quite literally, the big one. A great place for kayaking, exploring, or simply just relaxing on a piece of land that is all your own—for a week, at least.

Where: In the Discovery Islands, located off Vancouver Island

Cost: $1,450 per week
