Much of the Yaletown neighbourhood is without power this afternoon due to a downed wire near the intersection of Helmcken and Hamilton streets.
According to B.C. Hydro, the outage began at 3:12 p.m. and is affecting 807 customers within the area south of Hornby Street, east of Howe Street, north of Pacific Boulevard and west of Mainland Street.
A witness reported on social media that he saw sparks fly in the air when the wire fell.
Crews hope to have the electricity restored by 5 p.m. The outage has not affected Canada Line service at Yaletown-Roundhouse Station.
