Possible fentanyl pills found during Richmond traffic stop

Dec 20 2017, 12:50 am

Richmond RCMP says a traffic stop yesterday morning gave two officers more than they bargained for, according to CKNW.

Just after 1:00 a.m., officers at Busell Street and Park Road found more than a thousand green pills in a compartment of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee.

Mounties say the drugs look like OxyContin.

However, they are believed to contain fentanyl, which has been the subject of a number of warnings throughout Metro Vancouver.

The pills are being tested to confirm what exactly it is they contain.

A 23-year-old man from Surrey is facing charges in relation to the stop.

Richmond RCMP is once again reminding people to be aware of the dangers of fentanyl, and if they do choose to use the drug, not to use it alone, and to start with a small amount.
