Coquitlam RCMP looking for poppy donation thief

Police in Coquitlam are seeking a man who allegedly stole poppy donations from a Real Canadian Superstore location.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the supermarket on the 1300 block of Lougheed Highway.

“A man entered the store and approached the poppy donation collector, an 84 year-old veteran from the Legion,” reads a statement by Coquitlam RCMP. “At first the suspect put some change in the donation can and walked away. He quickly returned, allegedly picked up the collection can and left the store on a bicycle, with the poppy donations.”

Police describe the man as Caucasian, in his mid-40s, about 5’7″ tall and 150 lbs, and with a stubble on his face. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue Blue Jays ball cap, blue jacket, and black pants.
