Pop-up meditation studio coming to Robson Street for holidays

It’s no secret Christmas shopping can be stressful, so wouldn’t it be nice to have a place where you can centre yourself and get away from the pandemonium for a moment?

Well The Social Yoga, Vancouver’s only mobile yoga studio, is planting a meditation space in front of lululemon on Robson Street on December 12 to allow frazzled holiday shoppers a reprieve from the madness.

The meditation studio is housed in a vintage-style streamline trailer called “The Tin Can” and will feature easy-to-follow audio guided meditations – and no, you don’t need to be experienced in order to participate.

For The Social Yoga founder Anita Cheung, practicing mindfulness and meditation is near and dear to her heart.

“After working through some mental health struggles in my early 20s with meditation and mindfulness, I am always excited to do what I can to make the practice accessible – literally bringing it to the people – or in this case to the streets,” she said.

“The holidays are a busy time for everyone and we often forget to take some time for ourselves. The intention of this pop up studio is to give people a minute, or five, of sacred silence and ‘me-time’.”

Cheung partnered with lululemon and the owners of the Tin Can Studio to make her dream a reality. So if you’re shopping for your loved ones on December 12, take a moment for yourself and practice some mindfulness.
