Police watchdog notified after teen dies in Langley

Officials are investigating after after a teenaged boy died in Langley on Wednesday night.

A spokesperson for the the BC Coroners Service (BCCS) told Daily Hive that the teen was found at the Walnut Grove Community Centre, and later died in hospital.

“The Coroners Service’s investigation will look to determine how, where, when, and by what means he came to his death,” the spokesperson said, noting no other details are currently available.

“Due to the privacy of the deceased, the Coroners Service does not confirm or release identity,” the spokesperson added.

In addition to the BCCS investigation, the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIOBC) said it has been notified of the incident, as well.

The IIO said it currently investigating the incident “as police were in proximity,” but did not provide any further details.
