Vancouver Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man responsible for a disturbing break-in that is believed to be sexually motivated.

At about 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a young woman in the residence saw a naked man standing at the patio door of her apartment located near Main Street and East 7th Avenue.

The prowler entered the home through the unlocked patio door as the victim ran into her bedroom and alerted her roommate. He tried to force open the bedroom door, but was scared off when he was told the police had been called. The man stole the victim’s laptop before fleeing the suite.

The suspect was described as white, 30 to 40 years old, with a lean build and blonde hair. He was naked, wearing a red wig at the time of the offence, but it is believed he was wearing a dark sweater, dark sweatpants, and bright green and blue Asics running shoes prior to the break-in.

The stolen laptop is a silver MacBook Pro with various colourful stickers on it.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information about who is responsible, is asked to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0603 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
