Police are trying to arrest a 43 year old man on Manor near Euclid Street who has barricaded himself inside his home.

The incident began shortly after 11:30 last night. Police were called when he allegedly hit another man in an unprovoked attack.

The suspect is arrestable for the assault last night and also has several outstanding arrest warrants for assault, assaulting a police officer and attempting to disarm a police officer. Those warrants stem from an incident that occurred in November.

Investigators have obtained a warrant to enter the home, but are using incremental steps and continuing to try and negotiate to resolve the incident quickly and peacefully.

It is believed deteriorating mental health may be a factor.
