Police looking for witnesses to severe Superstore parking lot crash

DH Vancouver Staff Jan 14, 2015 10:58 pm

Did you see something out of the ordinary on Friday evening at the parking lot of North Vancouver’s Real Canadian Superstore?

North Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses following a single vehicle crash at the supermarket’s parking lot on January 9. Police say the Honda collided head on with a concrete light standard at approximately midnight.

There was severe damage to the vehicle, but the lone 51-year-old North Vancouver male driver only received minor injuries as the airbags were deployed.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the unusual single vehicle incident.

Police are attempting to determine the driver’s actions before striking the pole and are asking for the public’s assistance in coming forward with any information they may have on the incident, said Cpl. De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP in a statement.

Considering this parking lot is usually filled with shoppers walking around, the alternatives could have been disastrous.

If you have any information, you are asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
