A woman walking home from a Hastings Street bus stop in Burnaby was sexually assaulted during the early morning hours of Tuesday.
According to Burnaby RCMP, just before 2 a.m., an unknown male allegedly approached the woman from behind, placed one hand over her mouth, pulled her towards the bushes, and attempted to group her.
But the woman was able to free herself from the grasp of the man by screaming and fighting him. She then ran northbound on Springer Avenue and across Francis Street.
The suspect has been described by police as Caucasian, taller than 5’8″, and medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark clothing, including a dark hooded jacket.
“This is the second incident of a sexual assault involving groping in this area in the last four weeks,” reads a release. “While investigators cannot say definitely if the two incidents are linked, we are asking the public to remain vigilant especially when walking alone in the late evenings in the area.”
