Dec 19 2017, 10:59 pm

RCMP are investigating an apparent shooting and stabbing incident that occurred in Surrey early this morning.

Police responded to the scene of an incident near 94A Avenue and 124 Street at 3 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. It is believed that shots were fired between two vehicles that were speeding in the area.

When emergency responders arrived, there were no suspects or victims to be found in the area. However, a man with stab wounds to his upper body was admitted to Surrey Memorial Hospital at approximately the same time.

Investigators are now attempting to determine whether the incident is a part of the ongoing drug turf war between young South Asian and Somali groups. There have been nearly two dozen incidents to date leading to numerous injuries and one fatality.

Anyone with any information that could help investigators is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers (anonymous hotline) at 1-800-222-8477.
