Police fire shots at car thief after ramming into patrol cars on Christmas Day

The RCMP is in the early stages of an investigation into an incident that took place in Langley today.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Day, Surrey RCMP entered the Langley area to follow a stolen black Honda del Sol. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle by cornering it with RCMP patrol cars near the intersection of 200 Street and 72 Avenue.

However, as officers got out of their vehicles with their guns drawn out, the driver of the stolen vehicle began to ram the patrol cars to make way for his escape. Officers then proceeded to use their guns to fire on the vehicle while the suspect drove away from the scene. The car was struck by gun fire, no injuries were reported.

Shortly after the violent incident, the stolen vehicle with bullet holes was found abandoned approximately 10 blocks away.

RCMP are looking for the suspect who is a caucasian male in his 40s of age, has facial hair and shoulder-length brown hair, and wears glasses.
