Today the annual Fair at the PNE begins its second century as B.C’s premier family event. A Vancouver summer time tradition runs from August 20th to September 5th. Have you entered our free admissions contest yet?
This year’s Fair sees the introduction of several new, exciting features. An expansion of the PNE’s popular report card ticketing program has been introduced and now children 13 and under are free. Also brand new to hit the midway is the towering Atmosfear ride. At 218 feet, this thriller is literally hard to miss!
Food is always a big draw at the Fair and this year you gastronomes will not be disappointed. The folks at new booth entry PNE Crazy Dogs are proving that bigger is better with their 2-foot long Double Dare Ya dog, a behemoth smothered in homemade chili, grilled green peppers and onions, cheese sauce and bacon bits. For those with a sweet tooth there’s also deep fried strawberry Poptarts to check out. As always mini-donuts, cotton candy, fudge and other classic goodies will be offered up.
Throughout the 17-day Fair, PNE guests can enjoy unprecedented entertainment programming for the price of Fair gate admission including the all-new Family Theatre.
One of the most popular acts of recent years, the Peking Acrobats are back for 2011 at the PNE’s marquee venue, the Pacific Coliseum. Also returning, the amazing Superdogs, the fun and educational Kidz Discovery Farm and of course, this year’s PNE Prize Home, worth an estimated $1.3 million dollars.
Opening the Summer Nights Concert at the PNE Amphitheatre is none other than Metro Vancouver’s own country music duo One More Girl. Other highlights throughout the Fair include musical legends Kenny Rogers and Donny Osmond. Hit making duo Air Supply celebrates their 35th anniversary with their first original material in eight years, making this show a “must-see”. On September 2nd Daryl Hall & John Oates, the number one selling duo in music history, will bring their musical best to the Fair. All concerts get underway at 8:00pm nightly.
